| In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful | بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ | |
| 90:1 | I solemnly swear by this town. | لَا أُقْسِمُ بِهَذَا الْبَلَدِ |
| 90:2 | The town where you live. | وَأَنْتَ حِلٌّ بِهَذَا الْبَلَدِ |
| 90:3 | The begetting and the begotten. | وَوَالِدٍ وَمَا وَلَدَ |
| 90:4 | We created the human being to work hard (to redeem himself).*

لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْإِنسَنَ فِي كَبَدٍ |
| 90:5 | Does he think that no one will ever call him to account? | أَيَحْسَبُ أَنْ لَنْ يَقْدِرَ عَلَيْهِ أَحَدٌ |
| 90:6 | He boasts, "I spent so much money!" | يَقُولُ أَهْلَكْتُ مَالًا لُبَدًا |
| 90:7 | Does he think that no one sees him? | أَيَحْسَبُ أَنْ لَمْ يَرَهُ أَحَدٌ |
| 90:8 | Did we not give him two eyes? | أَلَمْ نَجْعَلْ لَهُ عَيْنَيْنِ |
| 90:9 | A tongue and two lips? | وَلِسَانًا وَشَفَتَيْنِ |
| 90:10 | Did we not show him the two paths? | وَهَدَيْنَهُ النَّجْدَيْنِ |
| 90:11 | He should choose the difficult path. | فَلَا اقْتَحَمَ الْعَقَبَةَ |
| 90:12 | Which one is the difficult path? | وَمَا أَدْرَكَ مَا الْعَقَبَةُ |
| 90:13 | The freeing of slaves. | فَكُّ رَقَبَةٍ |
| 90:14 | Feeding, during the time of hardship. | أَوْ إِطْعَمٌ فِي يَوْمٍ ذِي مَسْغَبَةٍ |
| 90:15 | Orphans who are related. | يَتِيمًا ذَا مَقْرَبَةٍ |
| 90:16 | Or the poor who is in need. | أَوْ مِسْكِينًا ذَا مَتْرَبَةٍ |
| 90:17 | And being one of those who believe, and exhorting one another to be steadfast, and exhorting one another to be kind. | ثُمَّ كَانَ مِنْ الَّذِينَ ءامَنُوا وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالصَّبْرِ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالْمَرْحَمَةِ |
| 90:18 | These have deserved happiness. | أُوْلَئِكَ أَصْحَبُ الْمَيْمَنَةِ |
| 90:19 | As for those who disbelieved in our revelations, they have incurred misery. | وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا بِءايَتِنَا هُمْ أَصْحَبُ الْمَشْءمَةِ |
| 90:20 | They will be confined in the Hellfire. | عَلَيْهِمْ نَارٌ مُؤصَدَةٌ |
